The photographs of Mary Macpherson – with a dash of poetry

Normally when I open a literary journal parcel, I zip to my poem (yes shameful behaviour) and then start reading and probably expire about halfway way through, or do the halfway thing then skip quickly to the end.

But pulling Te Ika (Manakau Institute of Technology) out of the white envelope was a different experience – there was the little magazine with the writing, the big magazine with the artwork and writing and rubber band, the sticker, the poster, the postcards with poems inside the envelope sealed with a yellow sticker. Phew – I won’t drift off this one.
